The Heather Mile (heathermile.com) is a personal poetry and trail-running blog. This page explains what little data the site processes, and why.
Who runs this site#
The Heather Mile is a personal, independently-run blog — not a company. There’s no marketing team, no sales funnel, no data broker relationship. If you have a question about this policy or want to exercise any of the rights below, message @theheathermile on Instagram — that’s the fastest way to reach whoever’s behind the site.
What data is processed#
Hosting logs. The site is served from Bunny (BunnyWay d.o.o., an EU-based content delivery network). Like essentially any web server, Bunny’s infrastructure logs standard technical request data — IP address, requested URL, timestamp, browser user-agent — as a normal part of serving pages. This is retained briefly for security and operational purposes (abuse prevention, debugging) and isn’t used to build a profile of you, sold, or shared with advertisers. See Bunny’s own privacy policy for how they handle this at the infrastructure level.
Analytics. The site uses Umami Cloud for basic visit statistics — page views, referrers, approximate country-level location, device/browser type. Umami is built specifically to avoid personal data: it doesn’t use cookies, doesn’t generate a persistent identifier that follows you across visits or across other sites, and doesn’t store your IP address. There’s no cross-site tracking and no advertising network attached to this data — it exists purely so the person running this blog can see roughly how many people are reading it and which posts land, not to identify individuals.
Nothing else. This site has no user accounts, no login, no comments section, no contact form, no email newsletter signup, and no advertising. There’s nothing to sign up for and nothing being sold, so there’s no payment data, no email list, and no third-party ad or marketing pixels of any kind.
Cookies#
This site does not use cookies for tracking or advertising. The only thing stored in your browser is a small localStorage entry that remembers a language display preference if you change it — this is purely functional, stays on your device, and is never transmitted anywhere. Because no non-essential cookies are set, this site doesn’t show a cookie consent banner — there’s genuinely nothing to consent to.

Your rights#
If you’re in the EU/EEA or UK, GDPR gives you rights over any personal data processed about you — access, correction, deletion, and objection to processing, among others. Given how little this site actually processes (no accounts, no cookies, no persistent identifiers), there’s rarely anything to act on, but if you have a specific concern — for example about IP addresses in hosting logs — message @theheathermile on Instagram and it’ll be looked into.
Children#
This site isn’t directed at children and doesn’t knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy#
If what this site does with data changes — say, a comments section or a newsletter gets added later — this page will be updated and the “last updated” date above will change accordingly.
